Your Library

It is our priority to ensure that you have all of the resources and facilities you need to support your studies at Anniesland College.

For this reason, we welcome and encourage your comments and feedback on how we're doing - so that we can develop the service we provide wherever possible.

For example, if we don't have a book or DVD that you're looking for, you can ask us to buy it. Or, if you feel that we could change something about the Library environment, equipment or procedures that would improve your learning experience, then please let us know.

Comments and Feedback

There are a number of ways to pass on your comments to us, and you can do this anonymously if you prefer. There is a suggestions box at the Library desk for written comments, you can email us at library@anniesland.ac.uk, telephone us on 0141 357 6106, or talk to us in person.

What do we do with your feedback?

All feedback, comments and suggestions are passed to the Library Manager for further action. If you have requested that we buy leisure material (fiction, DVDs, graphic novels), this is normally a straightforward request and can be done when the next order is placed. Requests for academic books are referred to your department for authorisation, and then ordered as soon as authorisation is received.

If the feedback relates to the Library environment, equipment or operation, and is not urgent, it is formally noted and raised at the next meeting of the Library Operational Group (see below).

Urgent feedback or complaints are dealt with as soon as we are made aware of them.

Library Operational Group

The Library Operational Group (LOG) meets once a month during term-time to discuss operational issues. The following staff members sit on this group:

  • Library Manager
  • Librarian
  • Flexible Learning Co-ordinator
  • Senior IT Technician
  • Senior Computing Lecturer
  • Flexible Learning Tutor

Both formal and informal comments submitted by students are placed on the agenda for discussion, and action points are allocated to the appropriate person in order to resolve these. If the issue raised cannot be resolved by those present, it is referred on to the relevant staff member in the college.

Recent LOG agenda items

  • Installation of multimedia software on Library PCs
  • Noise levels
  • Print management

If you would like to become involved in a student focus group attached to the LOG, please ask a member of Library staff for more information.

User Survey

Surveys are an important way for us to find out about any changes or improvements we could make to the facilities here.

User surveys are issued to students and staff roughly four times per year in print and electronic format. The purpose of these is to get your opinion of various aspects of the Library service, and to give you the opportunity to give feedback about your use of the Library.

Look out for the next one at the issue desk, here on our webpages or by becoming a fan of Anniesland College Library on Facebook.
