User Guidelines

The Library is a study area, and we have a responsibility to ensure that it is safe and comfortable for everyone to use. You must have a valid student ID card with you in order to use Library facilities.

We ask all Library users to observe the following guidelines:

General

  • Please respect others. Behave in a reasonable and responsible manner and have courtesy and consideration for other Library users and members of staff.
  • Please do not eat or bring food into the Library. The term 'food' includes (but is not limited to) crisps, sweets, biscuits and fruit. Anyone found eating anywhere in the Library will be asked to leave.
  • Please switch all phones to silent and leave the area if you need to make or take a call.
  • Your student ID card must be carried at all times while on College property and particularly in the Library. You must show your student ID card to a member of staff if asked to do so.
  • You are not permitted to lend your student ID card or network login details to anyone else.

PC Use

  • Please do not play sound on Library PCs unless you have headphones attached. Headphones are available at the desk or you may use your own.
  • Library PCs are for the use of one person at a time.
  • PC use is monitored and recorded. Please use college facilities appropriately and legally, as failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
  • Short-stay PCs are for use up to one hour. If you need to use a computer for longer than one hour, you must book a long-stay PC.
  • PC bookings are held for 15 minutes only. You must log in within 15 minutes of the booking start time or your booking will be lost.
  • The maximum booking time is 3 hours for health and safety reasons.

Lending

  • You are responsible for all items borrowed on your Library card and for returning them to the Library in good condition on or before the due date stamped inside.
  • Should you fail to return any item in good condition or you return it late, you agree that you are liable for the associated costs.
  • You may borrow up to 3 items at a time.
  • Only 1 DVD can be borrowed at a time.

We reserve the right to ask you to leave the area if you are disrupting others or otherwise failing to observe any of the above.
