Air Pollution

APPETISE - Air pollution episodes: modelling tools for improved smog management. APPETISE seeks to develop tools, which will support environmental management decision-making associated with air quality problems.

UK Air Quality Archive - Information about air pollution in the UK.

Climatology

Tiempo Climate Cyberlibrary - An electronic information service covering global warming, climate change, sea level rise etc. Also includes access to the journal Tiempo in full text.

BBC Weather Service - Get weather maps and forecasts for all of Great Britain. Includes satellite and radar.

Royal Meteorological Society - The learned and professional society for anyone whose profession or interests are connected with weather. Website has information about education programmes, published findings and activities.

Climatic Research Unit (University of East Anglia) - The aim of CRU is to improve scientific understanding in past climate history and its impact on humanity, the course and causes of climate change during the present century and prospects for the future.

UK Met Office - Weather and climate experts who provide global weather services for business and the public and are researchers of weather science.

International Association for Urban Climate - An organisation with scientific, scholarly and technical interests and responsibilities in several aspects of urban climatology.

World Meteorological Organisation - A specialized agency of the United Nations, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) is the UN system's authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of the Earth's atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources. News, events and publications are among the site's resources.

Countryside

Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) - A registered charity who campaign for a sustainable future for England's countryside.

Scottish Natural Heritage - A body funded by the Scottish Government whose main aims are to promote the sustainable use of Scotland's natural heritage and to help people enjoy it responsibly.

Scottish Outdoor Access Code - Website for the code developed and promoted by Scottish Natural Heritage and which aims to help people enjoy Scotland's outdoors responsibly.

Department for International Development - The part of the UK government that manages Britain's aid to poor countries and works to get rid of extreme poverty.

Institute of Development Studies - A leading global charity for international development research, teaching and communications.

Environment

Envirolink - A non-profit organisation committed to promoting a sustainable society by connecting individuals and organizations through communications technologies. EnviroLink does not take any positions on any specific environmental issues; it exists solely to act as a clearinghouse on the Internet for the environmental community, which is incredibly diverse in its views.

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) - The UK government department responsible for policy and regulations on the environment, food and rural affairs.

Environment Agency - Enter a postcode to find out about local environmental risks or view reports on sustainable development, waste management and the environment.

Friends of the Earth - A registered charity and campaigning group who seek to influence the government to make changes to policies in favour of people and planet.

The Land is Ours - A campaign run by volunteers whose role is to highlight ordinary people's exclusion not only from the land itself but also from the decision making processes affecting it, and to campaign and facilitate other people's campaigns to put this right. As well as organizing events itself, TLIO functions as an umbrella group, putting local campaigns in touch with each other, providing research, media support, political lobbying, contacts and ideas.

United Nations Environment Programme - A UN organisation aiming to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
