Landscape Design and Construction (NC)

The course provides a broad introduction to both hard and soft landscaping. Though largely practical, there is some theoretical study. Students will learn the skills necessary to prepare them for future employment in the landscaping industry and may progress to further study in landscape design and construction.

Entry requirements

Entry is by interview and no formal qualifications are required. Students are expected to have a keen interest in hard or soft landscaping and to enjoy working outdoors. A reasonable level of health and fitness is also desirable.

1 year full time August –June

  • National Progression Award in Construction (brickwork)
  • Laying slabs and pavings
  • Fencing and decking
  • Introduction to Gardening Skills
  • Plant husbandry
  • Small scale costing and estimating
  • Health and Safety
  • Practical projects

Further Study

On successful completion of the course, students may choose to go on to the NC in Landscape Design and Construction.

Careers

Successful completion of this course may lead to careers in landscaping or horticulture.
