Early Education and Childcare (HNC)

This course provides an integrated programme of theory and practice at advanced higher level The course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the principles and values underlying the care and education of young children through practical experience, academic study and independent research.

Entry requirements

  • NC Early Education and Childcare or SVQ level II Children’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent).
  • PVG Disclosure is essential as work experience opportunities are part of the course.  Anniesland College will pay for this.

Duration

1 Year Full time August to June

  • Children and Young People's Rights: Provision, Protection and Participation
  • Early Education and Child care: Group award Graded unit 1
  • Theoretical Approaches to Development and Learning
  • Working in an Early Education and Childcare setting

Careers

Successful students will be eligible for registration as a Practitioner with the Scottish Social Services Council. Employers include Local Authority, Partnership and private childcare settings.
