Playwork and Childcare (NC)

This course aims to provide an integrated programme of theory and practice and offers the opportunity to gain a vocationally recognised qualification in Playwork and Childcare at Intermediate 2. It should enable candidates to work effectively in certain posts within the childcare sector.

Entry requirements

  • Three standard grades (or equivalent) at band 3 or above (one of which must be English), although all applicants will be considered in terms of experience.
  • Students without the necessary formal qualifications may be asked to complete a core skill profile.
  • PVG Disclosure is essential as work experience opportunities are part of the course.  Anniesland College will pay for this.
  • All applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview.

Articulation

Successful students may progress to NC Early Education and Childcare at Anniesland College, subject to satisfactory references and practical training placement report.

Careers

This course embeds the National Progression Award in Playwork and Childcare, successful completion of which provides candidates with eligibility for registration as a Support Worker with the Scottish Social Services Council. This may lead to further vocational training and/or potential employment within certain posts in the childcare sector.
